Membership FAQ

Do I receive a membership ID card?

Your AMC membership ID is in the form of an ID sticker. Attach it to the back of an ID that you carry with you regularly. We understand that only so much can fit in your wallet and who needs another piece of paper or plastic to get lost or thrown away? If you need a replacement ID sticker or an extra for your family, call Member Services at 1-800-372-1758 and we'll mail you a duplicate.

Can I participate in other chapter activities or change affiliation?

Yes, AMC members can participate in any chapter activity, and you can change your affiliation to one of the 12 chapters at any time. The choices are: Maine; New Hampshire; Boston (MA); Southeastern Massachusetts; Worcester (MA); Berkshires (MA); Narragansett (RI); Connecticut; Mohawk Hudson (NY); New York/North Jersey; Delaware Valley (PA/NJ/DE); and Washington, DC.

How do I make a reservation for Pinkham Notch Lodge and the AMC Huts?

The reservation office is open Monday - Saturday, 9:00am - 5:00pm. Reservations for all White Mountain workshops, Pinkham Lodge, AMC Huts, Crawford Hostel, and the AMC Shuttle can be made by calling 603-466-2727. If you want to plan ahead, reservations are open for the next year as of November 1.

Where's my AMC Outdoors?

You may have moved recently (the Post Office is not required to forward your magazine), it might be lost in the mail, or your membership may have expired (if you wait to renew just before your membership expires, you may miss an issue) or you may have forgotten that some months share an issue (AMC Outdoors is published 10 times a year). If you are a new member, your first issue should arrive about 4 weeks after we process your payment. Please contact Member Services at 1-800-372-1758 if you didn't receive your magazine.

How do I participate in my company's matching gift program?

Ask your personnel office for the matching gift form, and send it along with your contribution or membership dues. Thanks to you and your employer, your contribution to the AMC goes twice as far!

I don't like junk mail! Can you do something?

Sometimes we share our mailing list with groups who may be of interest to members. If you do not want your name exchanged or rented, please call Member Services at 1-800-372-1758 and ask that your name be removed from AMC's list. You can also write: Mail Preference Service, Direct Marketing Assoc., P.O. Box 9008, Farmingdale, NY 11735-9008 or call 212-768-7277 and ask that your name be removed from all mailing lists.
